Meet Dr. Peter Mwangi

Dr. Peter Mwangi brings a unique blend of clinical expertise, public service, and animal welfare experience to PAWS. Before joining the team in Palau, he served as Senior Veterinary Officer and Head of the Field and Epidemiology Unit for the Government of Seychelles while volunteering extensively with the Seychelles Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA). There he helped lead community spay and neuter campaigns, cared for shelter animals, trained veterinary staff and volunteers, and worked alongside international veterinary teams to improve animal welfare throughout the islands.

A strong believer in practical, compassionate medicine, Dr. Peter enjoys solving challenging medical and surgical cases, even in resource-limited environments.  Whether performing high-volume sterilization surgeries, mentoring staff, or educating pet owners about responsible animal care, his goal is always the same: healthier animals, stronger communities, and a better future for companion animals. His calm, collaborative approach and dedication to helping both animals and people make him a valued member of the PAWS team.
